The OPs complaints seem based purely on the ammount of trade spam happening, which is a problem all over guild wars, but the OP is only focused on the problem in one small area.
To me it seems that it would be a better idea if ANET worked to pervent trade spam everywhere, not just in one or two towns.
Besides, last time I was in pre-searing, there was trade spam there.

It's more important that something be done about the spam anyway.
If you're only worried about access preventing you from getting titles, then how about the pre-areas not being counted towards getting the 100% exploration?

In my opinion, the "presearing" part of Factions has been blended with just after the "postsearing" part. You start off with a very comprehensive tutorial (if you so decide to); this tutorial in my mind is the true "presearing" of factions. It teaches you the basics. Though there is still more learning type things on the island, i see now reason as to why it should be off limit to higher level characters. It is a big chunk of land, and contains two missions. That's like closing off Ascalon, as many have said. Additionally, I think one of the definational parts of "presearing" is the lack of Xunlai, which is clearly present in the Monastery.

I like the areas too much. Closing them would take (as my title said) ~20% of the game out.

Perhaps, pre-areas of cantha should not be counted for people coming from tyria(usually with high lvl) as a explorable terrain of cantha. Then there shouldnt be any problems with titles of this sort.

Guys, come on. This area is basically the ascalon of cantha. Yes theres new people, just like ascalon. Sure, new people may be confused with all the spamming to sell/buy, just like ascalon. Anyways, what can ANet do?
"Due to spamming Shing Jea is off limits. Yes, we fully understand you cannot do the quests or visit this island."
It wont blend in good, factions is released and changing it will be, well odd.
Theres a main city on the island, so if you close it off there will be 3 main cities, which isnt really much. I for one go back there to quest since there uber easy and lots of exp.

Uhm, does this mean that Ascalon should be off limits too?

Last I checked the presearing in Ascalon is off limits to high level characters (unless they obtained their high level in presearing).
Does that mean a Cantha character couldn't get the 100% Tyria exploration because they can't explore the presearing map? Shouldn't this apply to the Tyria characters when they come over to Cantha?
100% Cantha exploration is a BS reason anyway to allow high level character to go to a low level (were talking presearing low level not post searing low level) area when you compare it to the negetive impact it could have on the game for those that only bought factions.

Wow I am really suprised by some responses. Most seem to think its a bad idea because of the Explorer Title. I just think thats the lamest excuse ever. In Prophecies you have to start a new character to explore the Pre area there and I think you should do the same in Factions, That or just make the Pre area not count for transfered characters.
Jesus, you all missed my point completely. The Pre area in Prophecies is, to me and a lot of people, a special place. It is not terribly tainted by high end gear, armor, players, and on and on. The pre area in Factions is not special at all. Anyone can come and go as they please it seems and I just think that it makes the area not too special anymore. And YES I also think they should not give you access to your storage until you get to the mainland in Factions. Can you imagine how ruined the pre sear in Prophecies would be if people had access to their storage? No thanks.

They've already said that pre-searing doesn't count towards to total of Tyria exploration. Cantha's "pre" does. To you it's a "lame excuse", a shame you cannot accept it as a reality. I'd be rather ticked if they locked the Cantha "pre" areas, because I would like to try and get 100% for the Cantha exploration title as well.
The pre-searing in Ascalon is boring to a large majority as well. I know many people who simply get the skills and get out as soon as possible. Heck, I like the appearance of pre-searing Ascalon, but aside from that it's quite boring there.
You made your point, people understand it but they are individuals and most will or will not agree with you. In this case a majority have not agreed. Sorry if that upsets you but it's a part of life. I for one do not agree, though I have stated one of my primary reasons.

Ah, so you're disparaging the goals of other players? That's an excellent way to get ANet to listen to you, because you obviously are the majority of players in the game.
If you want to go back to a special place, go start a new character in Prophecies again. Sound extreme? It is. Less however, than cutting off the millions of established Prophecies players from accessing 20% of Factions.

For those wanting to limit tryian characters comming to the shing jea islands, if you dont also block the canthan characters, then you will just delay the trade spam till the spammers get their characters through it.
If you block the canthan characters from returning, then if they miss eaither of the 15 attribute point quests (both are on the shing jea islands) before leaving, they have permantly screwed over that character. So this isn't an option, unless you want both of the 15 attribute point quests moved.
But if you do that, you are making a lot of work for ANET to end the trade spam in only one location. Work that could be better done working towards ending trade spam everywhere.

You now have access to your storage even in pre-sear Ascalon if you are in a guild that has storage in Guild Hall, so the whole argument falls on that.!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless they changed something, i'm pretty darn sure you can't access the guild hall from Presearing Ascalon.

There wasno need to restrict acces to guild hall before so why would they have done that? If you joind a guild who has a hall you must be able to go there, you can't go on from the hall anyway, unless you allready have destinations on your map.
